‘Menemen’ is a delicious Turkish egg dish which can be considered as the easiest dish of the Turkish Cuisine. We love to eat this delicious ‘Menemen’ dish at breakfasts, at lunches and even at dinners. It may seem like an omelette to you from the photos, but I assure you that it is much more than an omelette.
You may ask yourself that how can an egg dish can be that yummy. Let me tell you that it is not all about the eggs; it is about the harmony of the ingredients with the eggs. ‘Menemen’ is a dish that simply made with eggs, fresh tomatoes, fresh green peppers, garlic, onion, ground black pepper and red hot chili pepper flakes.
In a perfect Menemen dish; you don’t feel any dominant taste. That’s why I mention the harmony word as above. You need to be precise while you are preparing the ingredients of this dish. Otherwise, you can change the overall taste.
Besides its superior taste, Menemen dish has a very strong characteristic that none of the other dishes have. It unites people from the all levels of income because of its common and simple ingredients. In Turkey, everyone loves to eat it from rich to poor. It is an Everyman’s dish.
By the way, we cannot think eating it without bread. Bread is the wingman of Menemen. I strongly recommend you to keep a Baguette Bread ready at aside before you start to make this dish. If you want to eat Menemen in style as our way, you need to forget about using the fork and knife. We love to eat it from the pan directly so instead of eating it with fork and knife, we prefer to eat with bread. Otherwise, you can damage the bottom of the pan and it is not good.
